Who am I ?
My name is Guillaume PORTIER,
I'm a young programmer specialised in computer-graphics. As a
side
of my job, I develop realtime artistical animations (or in other terms
"demos"). I'm member of a french demomaking band called
mankind ,
all my personal works are released under the name of exel / mankind. If
you don't know about the demoscene and want to understand what it is
really, you can check this wikipage
here.
I now live in japan , I left france in september 2004.
I'm currently employed in a company called KLab Inc. where I could
pratice CG as an engineer and consultant.
My job here is specialized in mobile phone. Until now, I've been mainly
working on software rendering solutions since 3d chipsets were not that
present in phones. I've been working on two really interesting projects
: a powerful 2d library, currently used by 4 of the most important
phone-makers in japan and a fast 3d library, compatible with Opengles,
optimized for low-end ARM
processors. Now, with next generations phones, the time of hardware
rendering arrives, so I give my expertise on what will and what won't
be possible, I'm also working on OpenGLES specifications for java.
Purpose of this website
I built this website for two main purposes:
- First, to introduce myself. I thought it was a better way to show
what I like, what I do, and what I am able to do. It is just better
than a simple CV, you can directly download my personal works.
- Then, this site will be the entry point of the documentation of
the new personal project I'm working on: mk.
